Mike Anderson
Campus Staff Volunteer/Faculty
mandersonii@comcast.net
Originally from California, he and his family moved to Fort Collins to be close to his in-laws in 2016. He has been volunteering his time with CSU graduate students since 2017.
He has a pastor’s heart and is eager to listen. Prior to his arrival in Colorado he spent his time serving church congregations through diverse regions of central California.
He and his wife, Ali, are the parents of their two elementary-school aged boys. He enjoys swimming, playing chess, cribbage, hiking, biking and gardening with them. He enjoys expressing his creativity in many ways, including trying to play just about any musical instrument that makes a noise. He loves to learn and has recently acquired a 14-foot sailboat with the hopes of learning to sail.
Gus is a networker and helps to connect people together. In 2019 he helped to coordinate the Parent Teacher Organization at his children’s school. His hope in serving with InterVarsity is to unite community on the CSU campus among graduate students.
He values the breadth of experience and diversity that graduate students bring to the Fort Collins area.
In addition to spending time with his family and volunteering with InterVarsity, Gus also serves as the pastor of Harmony Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins.
Mike was born and raised in the Chicago area and, along with his sister, was adopted into the Anderson family. At the age of seven he said yes to Christ and has continued as His apprentice ever since. He attended Bethel College (now University) where he met his wife Kim whom he married 42 years ago. He is a graduate of Bethel and Denver seminaries, a father of three and a grandfather of five. Mike joined the Cherry Hills Community Church staff in 1992 in the counseling and pastoral care department, and has since served in the family, marriage and baptism ministries until June of 2013.
Mike has a particular interest in (besides biking, reading, trees, Disc & Frisbee golf) knowing, loving and following Jesus Christ and encouraging others to do the same. He now serves Christ through counseling as a marriage and family therapist; an adjunct prof; a chaplain to pastors and professors; and as a pastor-at-large.
